Academic Support Services
Ontario universities offer many support services to help you be successful in your studies. These services include student learning centres, writing support, accessibility services, and advising and tutoring programs.
Visit the Universities section to learn more about each university’s support services and to find a list of common on-campus services.
Writing Centres
Many universities have writing centres or services on campus. The centres often take appointments in advance and can usually accommodate drop-ins as well. They can help you structure and edit your papers, essays and assignments.
Tutoring
If you are struggling in a course, contact your academic success centre or Indigenous student centre. One or both of these centres can usually pair you with a senior student who will work one-on-one with you to develop the academic skills you need, or point you in the direction of other tutoring services offered on campus.
Accessible Learning Services
If you have a disability that requires accommodation, contact your university’s accessibility services office as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition to university learning. Accessibility services at your university will help ensure that your needs are accommodated. Services may include evaluating your medical documentation and working with your professors to ensure your needs for the classroom and exams are accommodated.

Academic Advising
Academic advisors act as guidance counsellors throughout your university studies. They can help you select courses, provide advice on possible program changes and keep you on track to graduate.
Many universities offer academic advising through individual faculties or programs, while some institutions offer centralized academic advising services through an academic support service centre.
