Aboriginal Student Services

Overview

The Office of Indigenous Initiatives strives to be a home away from home for Indigenous learners. You can talk with counsellors, meet other students and join in activities and cultural events. The following are just some of the services you will find on the Waterloo and Brantford campuses.

The Office of Indigenous Initiatives offers supportive, holistic, cultural and academic programming for all Indigenous students – First Nations, Status, Non-Status, Inuit and Métis persons – through the Indigenous Student Centres at both the Waterloo and Brantford campuses.

Both campuses provide education, awareness, resources and training on Indigenous cultures. You will also have access to career planning, smudging ceremonies, a quiet study room, a Visiting Elders Program (Waterloo Campus), the Elder in residence (Brantford Campus) and academic and personal counselling. Come in and check out your home away from home where great people are waiting to welcome and help you with your success.

The Office of Indigenous Initiatives offers pre-admission counselling to prospective students about admission policies, funding and program planning. The Indigenous student recruitment and outreach Office can also help you with career planning. Please email indigenous@wlu.ca and check out all the resources of the Office of Indigenous Initiatives.
